Filesystems on our Intranet serverCreating something like FriendUP gives new challenges everyday. Being an operating system for the internet we aim to integrate the most useful technologies that it has to offer.

IPFS is clearly a revolutionising technology and we think it will be part of the technological push that will let the internet fulfill its promise of decentralised possibilities and self control. But it will also allow everybody to publish content without having to rent webspace or whatever.

So, to integrate Friend with IPFS we had to adapt our dosdriver interface to support node.js based drivers. now as this is done we face the task to create something that resembles a file system in the old-school sense while using IPFS.

So we will create a filesystem driver that will allow our users to create files and folders and keep them in a coherent structure across all devices. We will have inbuilt encryption and will also work on a feature to turn encryption off for chosen files which makes those files publicy available on the internet.

This effort is part of our wider strategy to enable and empower everybody with our world computer 🙂 which will give you your digital home.
